Reverse rigid body motion in multi-stage single point incremental forming

Abstract. This paper provides an analysis of the Rigid Body Motion (RBM) in multi-stage Single Point Incremental Forming a cylindrical cup. The RBM is studied using Digital Image Correlation to track material each contour tool, resulting better understanding phenomenon than has been shown literature. study shows that highest Z-translations midpoint cone take place last contours stage, where these peaks also increase per stage. An interesting observation reverse rigid body motion, appearing close end right before sudden drop bottom contours. causes flattening and results smaller stage for later forming stages. Additionally, stepover between two intermediate stages have important effect on stepped features bottom, but did not significant accuracy cone.
